University Lutheran Church
The University Lutheran Church is a member congregation of Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America (ELCA). Lutheran Campus Ministry welcomes all people into a loving community where they can experience God’s grace through worship, friendship, and the opportunity to serve. Lutheran Campus Ministry strives to be a welcoming community, a place for people of any gender, race, national origin, and sexual orientation.
Students come from University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, Temple University, and many other schools throughout Philadelphia. Many students, both Lutheran and of other denominations, have joined the congregation and are encouraged to take on active leadership roles within the ministry. Since 1988, The University Lutheran Church has organized Feast Incarnate, a weekly event for food and fellowship with members of the HIV positive community who face prejudice and discrimination in their lives. Other weekly events combining community and fellowship at the Lutheran Campus Ministry include Theology on Tap, Chill Night, and Bible Study.
