Summary of Position
The Youth Programs Director positions, directs, and implements all aspects of Interfaith Philadelphia’s youth programming for elementary school through college-aged participants. The Youth Programs Director will think and plan strategically for growth, manage all youth activity including existing and new programs, and expand partnerships in the Greater Philadelphia Region. The Youth Programs Director trains, hires, and manages facilitators and interns for youth initiatives. We are seeking candidates with a track record of experience in youth programming, innovative program design, working with partnerships, and bringing programs to scale. The Youth Programs Director should be passionate about the potential of interfaith work as a powerful force for societal good, and fostering a thriving and democratic society.
Responsibilities
- Plan, oversee, innovate, and execute all aspects of Interfaith Philadelphia’s youth programming, including the cultivation of program partnerships and outreach and development of new partnerships, evaluation and impact assessment, and creation of new curricula. Programs include but are not limited to:
– School Partnerships – maintain a robust array of program offerings to meet curricular goals and needs of public, private, independent, and religious schools.
– Alternative Break– schedule and implement week or weekend-long interfaith programs in partnership with high schools and universities.
– Mosaic – facilitate neighborhood-based week-long arts summer program for middle school students with partners across Philadelphia.
– Interfaith Book Trail – expand elementary school offering to new counties and libraries across the region.
– Walking the Walk – evaluate and reinvigorate high school leadership training program. - Hire and supervise part-time program facilitators and interns for Interfaith Philadelphia youth initiatives
– Orient, coordinate, train and supervise program consultants
– Ensure all lead facilitators have appropriate background checks, required clearances, and training - Stay informed on local and national research in areas such as interfaith programs, youth development, emerging trends, best practices, and trauma-informed care.
- Evaluate and report on Interfaith Philadelphia youth programs
- Contribute to youth programming grants, grant reports, and funder relationships
- Work with Communications Director to develop strong communications and outreach materials and social media presence to a range of target audiences.
- Maintain strategic perspective on the future of Interfaith Philadelphia’s youth programming, and direct strategic inquiries and planning processes looking towards the future of interfaith youth work, learning from relevant national programs and partnerships
- Facilitate relevant trainings and experiential programs for educators and professionals working with youth in partnership with the Leadership Institute staff
Qualifications and Skills
- 10+ years of experience in youth formal or informal education and curriculum development
Interest and passion for our mission - Passion for and familiarity with interfaith relations, multi-cultural, multi-faith constituencies, the city of Philadelphia, and its neighborhoods
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating collaborative partnerships and in supervising consultants, staff, or interns
- Demonstrated experience in new program development and bringing programs to scale
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Self-directed and detail-oriented
- Ability to think strategically with a broad perspective
- Strong interpersonal skills and relatability to youth
- Strong character and sound judgment, especially related to intergroup sensitivities and youth development
- Creative and possibility-minded, with an eagerness to explore new strategies, skills, and approaches
- Ability to represent Interfaith Philadelphia with integrity and enthusiasm to program partners, educators, clergy, youth, parents, etc.
Salary and Benefits
$55,000-$60,000 salary, commensurate with experience
