CORA Good Shepherd Mediation aka CORA GSM Services formerly Good Shepherd Mediation Program

Resolving Conflicts

The Good Shepherd Mediation Program, established in 1984, is a neighborhood justice center located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. People in conflict go to the Mediation Program to resolve their disputes through mediation. Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process for resolving disputes with the help of a trained, neutral third party. Good Shepherd has provided mediators for divorcing couples, parents and children, 1000 faith-based leaders, landlords and tenants, feuding neighbors, bosses and workers, employees having difficulty working together, and others. They average 1500 – 2000 mediation conferences per year throughout the Philadelphia region.

In addition to mediation, Good Shepherd does “Conflict Coaching” which helps people come up with a plan to resolve conflict when the other party is unwilling to enter mediation. The mediators at the Good Shepherd Mediation Program are staff and volunteers who have completed mediator training and a mediator apprenticeship. The mission of the organization is to empower Philadelphia community residents to creatively search for meaningful and lasting solutions to their conflicts without resorting to crime or violence.
