Upper Dublin Lutheran Church
Upper Dublin Lutheran Church (UDLC) is a community that cares for the needs of the members of the congregation, the community, and beyond. It might be called a small city of ministries. Individuals within the congregation take charge of organizing, promoting, recruiting, and managing programs that exemplify the mission of Zones of Peace.
They feed the hungry through several programs, resettle religiously diverse refugees, provide beds for children in poverty, sponsor families in homelessness transition, send care packages and letters to deployed military staff, provide scholarships to Tanzanian students, help build and sustain a teacher’s college in Tanzania, sponsor community events to bring people together “without boundaries,” and encourage ecological stewardship. Involving children and youth makes most of the congregation’s projects intergenerational, and most of the projects involve personal interaction with the recipients of their aid. They see these projects as an important form of leadership development for both youth and adults.
